This traveler was part of a kiln firing that was slightly overfired, resulting in an extra gritty texture. The traveler received a thorough sanding to remove any sharpness, but a noticeable gritty or “sandy” texture similar to fine-grit sandpaper still remains (the rim and sipping hole received extra attention during the sanding process and still function comfortably.) It also has a crack in the base that was filled in with glaze and refired. This crack no longer leaks, and it is unlikely to ever leak again as it is solidly filled in with glaze. This flaw does not affect the function or safety of the piece,

All Stott Mountain Pottery is designed to be used and enjoyed daily. Made with durable stoneware clay, it has the potential to last for generations with proper care. It is dishwasher safe, microwave safe, and always lead-free. Simply avoid sudden temperature changes (fridge to microwave and vice versa), as it may cause cracking.

Stott Mountain Pottery pieces are one of a kind and cannot be recreated exactly, as each piece is completely freehand painted. The placement of each piece inside of the kiln, paint opacity, glaze thickness, and overall nature of handmade pottery results in no two pieces ever being perfect replicas. However, similar designs and collections will appear in future shop updates.

New pieces are released through periodic shop updates rather than on a fixed schedule. Because each item is handmade from start to finish, the timing of drops depends on the making and firing process. Expect roughly 2-4 weeks between each update.

I rotate through three collections nonstop: Barnyard, Bible, North American Wildlife, repeat. If you missed the collection you wanted to shop from, you need only to wait until it rolls around again. Each collection is dropped roughly 2 weeks apart.
